Quality Improvement Tools for Improving Maternal and Newborn Survival

Presenter: Maureen Tshabalala, Institute for Healthcare Improvement

Through the use of Quality Improvement (QI) tools including driver diagrams, checklists, data collection tools, change packages for spread, and more, IHI, with partners is improving processes and outcomes in maternal and newborn health across six low and middle-income countries. One unique tool IHI has developed is a process for designing effective, high-impact large-scale projects using the Five Core Components. These practical resources combined with lessons for application in any setting are simple, inexpensive, and adaptable to any setting or project striving to save lives of mothers and newborns. IHI and partners will share these tools in the marketplace.
