Maternal Wristband for Saving Lives of Mothers and Newborns in Remote Areas of the World During Pregnancy

Presenter: Shariq Khoja, Tech4Life Enterprises

Monitoring mothers for life threatening conditions during pregnancy, such as pre-eclampsia, gestational diabetes and anemia remains a challenge in remote parts of the world. Tech4Life Enterprises has developed a highly innovative maternal wristband for non-invasive monitoring of blood glucose, hemoglobin and blood pressure among pregnant women, and transferring the data to health providers using mobile GSM connectivity. The device needs partnerships and support for large community trials, before saving thousands of lives. Pregnant women wear wristband to monitor the data, which is sent automatically to health providers using text messages; thus substantially reducing the risk of maternal and infant mortality.
