Continuum of Care Card: One Page Innovation to Improve Maternal Care Seeking Behavior in Ghana

Presenter: Sumiyo Okawa, The University of Tokyo

The Ghana EMBRACE Implementation Research Project is conducting a cluster randomized controlled trial using an effectiveness-implementation hybrid design. It aims to improve maternal and neonatal health by strengthening continuum of care (CoC). CoC card is our one-page innovation to educate, encourage, and facilitate mothers to complete CoC, and it has improved maternal care seeking behavior with high popularity. Both Ghanaian and Japanese researchers will present how CoC card has made positive changes in mothers using short movies and photos, and discuss the participatory process of developing the card, and strategies for scaling it up as a national standard tool.
